1959 年生于大连，祖籍承德市，82年毕业于河北师范学院美术系，中国国家画院专职画家,研究员，国家一级美术师，文化部优秀专家。
作品多次参加国内外重要美术展览，代表作《梦回赵家沟》入选《百年中国画展》、《喀什作坊》入选《第十届全国美术作品展》获优秀奖、《帕米尔人》《晨钟暮鼓悟真谛》《遗存的讯息》《帕米尔风情》分别入选第一、二、三、四届《全国画院优秀作品展》、《岁月遗痕》《遗存的讯息》入选第一、二届《当代中国山水画.油画风景作品展》等。作品被文化部、中国国家画院、国家美术馆、中南海、外国文化机构及博物馆收藏。出版《刘昆画集》《刘昆作品集》《当代中国画品——刘昆篇》《百年中国画家——刘昆篇》等多部画集。
born in Dalian in 1959, grew up in Cheng De, a historical city in China. He graduated from the art institute in Hebei Normal University in 1982. He is now a professional painter and researcher in China National Academy of Painting, and he is also honored as National First-class Painter, Excellent Expert of the Ministry of Culture.
His paintings participated in many high-level art exhibitions. His magnum opus, Dream Back Zhao Jia Gou, was collected in ‘Exhibition of Chinese Painting : The Last 100 years’; the painting, Leather Workshop in Kashgar Bazzar, was collected in ‘the 10th National Exhibition of Arts, China 2004’, and honored as ‘Outstanding Work’; his four paintings, Pamir Inhabitant, Mantra in Temple’s Drum and Bell Ringing, Messages from the Ancient Legacy, Pamir Impression, were collected in the 1st to the 4th ‘Exhibition of Outstanding Works of National Academies of Painting’; the two works, the Trace of the Faded History, and Messages from the Ancient Legacy, were collected in the 1st and the 2nd ‘Exhibition of Chinese Contemporary Scenery Paintings, Chinese-Ink Painting and Oil Painting’.
Liu Kun’s works were collected in the Ministry of Culture, China National Academy of Painting, National Art Museum of China, Zhongnanhai, some foreign cultural institutions and museums. His publication includes Work Album of Liu Kun, Painting Collection of Liu Kun, Contemporary Chinese Paintings – Volume of Liu Kun, the Artists of Chinese Painting in the last 100 years – Volume of Liu Kun, etc.
